Debossing / Embossing Embossing and Debossing are two classic print methods that achieve elegant results through opposite means; in debossing, a pattern is sunk into the surface of a sheet of paper using customized dies or plates. It might protrude somewhat on the reverse side, depending on the paper’s thickness and the pressure used. This method of printing produced an appearance that conveys high quality. Whereas embossing literally “make an impression”, embossing produces a three dimensional or raised design, using two dies. The final raised effect has a textured look that speaks of sophistication, attracting attention to the piece.
